This has been discussed in other threads... but they are old threads that are not dedicated to this topic, so I wanted to bring it front and center.
I've been thinking about trying to build a 1U rack mount 'Control Panel.' I know other guys have been talking about this too.
One thing I miss from my real amps is the ability to go over and just grab the gain knob, or the bass, presence, mids, treble, or master volume.
Live... on the fly adjustments right in the room with my band. The thing is, I can tune presets all day at home, and sometimes when I get in the room with the band, things are not exactly right. (For whatever reason... the other guitar changed HIS tone, the bass is heavier, Fletcher-Munson... blah blah).
So... I'd like a single rack unit with about 8 knobs on it that I could assign to those functions ( and a couple others like delay or reverb mix,) for ALL of my presets (or just globally I guess.) I know there are 4 quick control knobs, but they are: A. Small B. Hard to Label effectively, and C. Only 4 of them. And... they change functions. I don't think you can 'lock them in' to given functions (but I don't know... I never really tried actually... but I don't think you can)
So... I started thinking I would just use some pots and mount them in a blank rack plug them into the pedal jacks on the rear... but that only gives me 2 knobs. Then, I started thinking 'Is there a way to create a second midi controller to do this?' I fear it might be over my head. Could the Axe even support a second controller? How could this be accomplished?
Has anyone else thought of this, and is anyone working on such a project?
